Great Lakes Conference
Churches of God, General Conference
2008 Conference-In-Session
June 6th - 7th
Opening Session 8:00 a.m.
“Your Kingdom Come” has been selected for the theme of the 2008 Great Lakes Conference which will be held at Winebrenner Theological Seminary, 950 N Main Street, Findlay. Rick Rusaw, pastor of Life Bridge Church in Colorado and co-author of “The Externally Focused Church” will be the featured speaker.
A full agenda of business, reports, visioning, training and fellowship has been planned for Friday and Saturday. This once a year conference is the glue that helps to hold our churches together in ministry as we learn from each other and celebrate the accomplishments of our combined efforts. All churches are encouraged to send their leadership team as delegates for this experience.
The pre-conference seminar and opening address of conference on Friday will offer participants the incredible opportunity to sit under Rick’s teaching, which is very personable, down to earth and relevant for those churches and individuals who want to do ministry in their communities to reach the lost for Jesus. Rick was speaker at last year’s General Conference sessions and at IMPACT and will be speaking at this years Eastern and Mid-Western Conferences as well. Rick Rusaw will also be speaking at the Pastor/Spouse Dinner on Thursday evening, a special time to connect with our clergy couples.
ALL GLC Churches are strongly encouraged to bring a team of leaders to hear Rick’s messages on Thursday and Friday morning.

Church NewsWhere it is happening!!College First joined with the congregations of CrossPoint and The Catalyst in observing the Ordinance of Baptism on Palm Sunday evening. Eleven individuals were baptized. A reflection of the Letters to the Seven Churches was completed through sermons and individual/small study groups during Lent. Reflective study materials were prepared by members of the College First congregation. The College First Women’s CREW Ministry sponsored a “Walk to Jerusalem” for spiritual and physical fitness. At least seventy-five teams participated in the 6,687 mile ‘walk’, reaching Jerusalem in only five weeks. Because of the earlier than expected arrival, a tour to various sites in the life of Christ was also included. Frontline is praising the Lord for many spiritual conversations with pre-Christians through the Boardwalk Creative Center, a new Kids Zone administrator, new Frontliners and for Rachel continuing to be pain-free (though she still has blurry vision). Last year they took a step of faith in leasing the Boardwalk Creative Center knowing that they had to generate an additional $3,000 per month above their old facility expenses...a far greater challenge than they had anticipated. Please pray! Would you consider a one-time gift to Frontline? Mt. Tabor had a glorious Easter. During the Lenten season the Lord blessed them with seven new members. He allowed them the privilege of baptizing three candidates. They celebrated as they dedicated a child and their joy was increased with a soul being saved. With these additions to the Kingdom, the Lord continues to demonstrate His mercy and grace as they strive to reach and build up those in their community with His love. Ney had a wonderful Easter celebration. One of their annual events is an Easter Egg Hunt open to the community. This year the event was held inside the church building since they received 4 inches of snow Friday night. They had over 60 children hunting for more than 1,400 eggs for candy and prizes. Just before the children launch on their search, they take the opportunity to share with them, and their parents, the real celebration of Easter—the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and share how they can have new life through Him. The church is blessed with great servants who do this annually. Ohio City recently remodeled their sanctuary with new carpeting and new pew chairs. Ridgeway was host to one of three GLC Missions Banquets held on Friday, March 28th. The banquet took in $1,080.00 for the Bogra Gas Line Project. Included in their Easter Sunday service was the dedication of William Saunders III |

GLC CG Women’s Ministries
National March Retreat:
This year’s retreat will be long remembered in March Retreat history. A March blizzard created many challenges, but everyone rose to the occasion and accepted the changes with a great spirit. The cancellation of the banquet at a church in the country due to a level three snow emergency prevented anyone from leaving the WTS building and set the planning committee into a hurried cooperative effort to feed 380 ladies!
Regional May Rally:
May 20th is the date of the next GLC CGWM rally. This will be held at the CGGC Christian Ministries Center at 700 E. Melrose Avenue, Findlay. We will begin at 9:30 a.m. and go until 2:20 p.m.
The speaker for the day will be Susan Fenker of Columbia City, IN, a CGGC associate pastor and gifted speaker.
The theme will be “Seasons of a Woman’s Life” with a theme scripture of Ecclesiastes 3:1. The day’s activities will center around Mother’s Day, with lunch included in the registration price of $10.00.
The GLC CGWM portion of the Thank Offering will be divided between five women who gave many years before retiring from missionary work for the CGGC. They are Beth Beers, Betty Biswas, Tripti Dewan, Rhoda Kaufman, and Geneva McNutt .
The Special Offering will be given to Charusheela Singha in India to use for women’s ministries in India.
We may also have a surprise visit from a current CGGC Missionary Wife. JOIN US!!!
