Camp Otyokwah Update |
Praise The Lord & CelebrateThe new facility has passed the final inspection and is ready for use. The first meal was served in the new dining, but it was still catered. Soon the equipment and food service team will be producing the high quality meals that are expected. Even though the building is completed, the Capital Campaign is not. The physical structure was build on the basketball court and on the faith that God would provide through His people. This necessary tool for the ministry of Camp Otyokwah was built not only for the present needs, but with a vision for the future. Please pray for the finances to be raised in a timely manner. |

March 3, 2007The building continues to
"blossom" even with all the snow and
cold temperatures we have been having. The roof is completely
shingled. The exterior siding is complete and in my opinion, they
did
an especially excellent job. Doors on the "valley side" (west
side) of
the building are installed.
On the inside, rough wiring for
the electrical, data, phone, and
fire alarm systems is in. The plumber is finishing the water
line.
The mechanical contractor continues to work on the HVAC system -
the
gas line for the building should be installed in the near future.
Insulation for the exterior walls is complete and most of the ceiling
insulation is in. Drywall is going up in the dining room,
pantry, and
kitchen office. At this point, the contractor anticipates
completion
in early May.
Please, please continue to pray
for the progress of this facility and the Lord's provision.
In His service,
Mark Dubler
Executive Director

Camp Otyokwah Capital Campaign FundGreat Lakes Focus January 2007Construction of our new camp dining hall building continues to progress! Structural steel and rough wood framing for the exterior and interior walls is nearly complete and windows are installed. Roof trusses have been delivered and are in the process of being put into place. Once the trusses are in place, the contractor will begin sheeting the roof and installing electrical wiring and mechanical piping and ductwork. During the month of January, a small group of volunteers will install phone and data wiring in the building. Also, the new camp water distribution system has been designed and submitted to OEPA for approval. With this new system, we will no longer have to flush toilets with lake water during a power outage! For future construction updates, check our web page on the conference website at www.glc.cggc.org/camp.htm. Overall, we are still on schedule to be ready for next summer’s camps. The capital campaign for the new building continues to progress as well! We are currently transitioning from Phase I of the campaign (visiting with lead gift donors) to Phase II (presenting the campaign to churches and to GLC constituents) . As of January 5, 2007, we have received one-time gifts and pledges totaling $242,000 or 30% of our $800,000 Victory Goal! This is in addition to the $250,000 grant to be provided by the Foundation in 2007. Wouldn’t it be great if we could use this building next summer knowing the project will be debt-free?! Please pray for continued progress and the Lord’s provision. |

February 2, 2007. Right now camp looks very busy! Many crews are on site working on the building. On the exterior, roofers are finishing the shingles. On the inside, the framing and dry wall crews are finishing the mechanical rooms in the "attic" area. The electrical contractor has installed the power panels and is installing wiring and recepticles. The mechanical contractor continues to install ductwork. Insulating of the exterior walls begins today. Volunteers (one is a licensed electrician) are installing our phone, data, and fire alarm wiring. Please continue to pray for progress and the Lord's provision. |

“Building the Future Together—Now”Great Lakes Focus October 2006The Camp Otyokwah Capital Fund Campaign, to replace the Barn and build a beautiful new multi-use facility, is now underway. August 26th marked the beginning of a three year “faith commitment” venture to raise $800,000. If you receive a letter or phone call asking to meet with one of our campaign representatives, we hope that you will take the opportunity to learn about the vision we have for Camp Otyokwah’s future. Although individuals and churches may not make equal gifts toward our goal, we can make equal sacrifices toward the goal. Serving on the Steering Committee is Randy Dammeyer as Chair and David Welker as Secretary. Directors are Mark Dubler, David Green, and Darrell Prichard. Lead Gift/Church Visitation leader is Owen Hall. Donna May is Activities & Publicity coordinator and Elsie Laffin serves as Prayer Coordinator. Brad Kennedy, Galen King, Steve Whetstone and George Showers are the Regional Leaders. Nancy Dahlberg of JHM & Associates leads this Committee. At the date of the Focus going to print a total of $93,285 has been committed over the three year campaign or has come in as one time gifts. Together we can reach our goal and we will celebrate a victory together when the final amount is announced at the end of the campaign. |
December 19, 2006 The rough framing of the exterior and interior walls is nearly complete. Some steel beams and columns will be delivered December 20th and once in place, the remainder of the wall framing will be completed. After that roof trusses will be installed and we will begin to close up the building so work can begin work on the interior. Please pray for progress as we work toward having the building complete and ready for use by next summer. |
